Monthly Meeting Minutes

July 2009

The meeting was called to order by President Pete Lenes. Steve Whatley
lead members in pledges to the flags (US, TX & SAR).After the pledges the meeting was turned over to President Pete Lenes.

New Business


Pete Lenes made the introduction of members and guests.
There were fourteen members and six guests in attendance. Two
of the guests have applications submitted for membership.


Bill Covington was the guest speaker. He demonstrated the uniforms and fire arms used by Revolutionary War patriots.


Pete Lens reported that the chapter has accumulated over 6,000 points this year.


Pete reported that he and Sue attended the 38th Annual CAR meeting that was held in Houston. He reported that a new CAR chapter is being formed in the Bay Area.

August 2009

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Marty Nottbohm. Marty led members in the pledges to the flags (US, TX and SAR). After the pledges the meeting was turned over to President Pete Lenes.

New Business:


Pete Lenes made the introductions of members and guests. There were thirteen members and nine guests in attendance. Two of the guests have applications submitted for membership.


The guests from VA Clinic were Thelma Leathers RN and her husband, Dr Sheena Wydenmyer and her husband and daughter. Pete reminded all members to report any donations, visits, and funeral attendance associated with veterans.


Fred Machol (Lt Col) was our speaker. Fred is 92 years old and gave some real gruesome stories relating to World War II. He described some gory details of what the American soldiers encountered in the German POW camps. He has a sharp mind and tells a great story.


Pete announced that George Dersheimer, John Gulley, Ron Mason and Steve Whatley have volunteered to be color guards.

Sept 2009

The September meeting was a joint meeting with the DAR George Washington chapter. Meeting was called to order by DAR president. Members (SAR & DAR) gave pledges to (US, TX, DAR and SAR) flags. After the pledges the meeting was turned over to DAR vice president who introduced the speaker Eric Sandifer.

He spoke on “The Constitution Between the States” A Brief History, It’s Impact and It’s Meaning. After his speech and lunch the SAR & DAR adjourned for their business meetings.


New Business:


Pete Lenes made the introductions of members and guests. There were thirteen members and seven guests in attendance.


Pete Lens made the announcement that Kenneth Vaughan passed away on September 6th. Several members will attend his memorial service on September 20th.

October 2009

The October meeting was called to order by Vice President Marty Nottbohm . Marty led members and guests in pledges to (US, TX,  and SAR) flags. After the pledges the meeting was turned over to President Pete Lenes.


New Business:


Pete Lenes made the introductions of members and guests. There were ten members and nine guests in attendance.


Pete Lens made the announcement that Clark Wright found a copy of chapter Bi-Laws. The Bi-Laws will be acceptable with a few minor changes. They will be updated and presented to chapter members for approval at the November meeting. 


 Pete Lens made the introduction of the speakers (Col. Don Outler & Col. Van Skiles).
